National Occupational Standards Consultation

Posted: 2nd May 2014

Construction Industry Council has completed a review of the national occupational standards (NOS) for Built Environment Development and Consultancy Practice. The review has focussed on integrating new industry practices relating to sustainability, energy use, low carbon and Building Information Modelling.

We are seeking confirmation from the sector that the standards are fit for purpose and invite you to participate in our on line consultation.

These national occupational standards are concerned with directing design practice and making strategic decisions to support the design team. They represent a high level of competency in a senior design and consultancy role at chartered level. The standards will also form part of a new Scottish Professional Apprenticeship at SVQ5/SCQF 11 that is being developed with SQA and Scottish employers.

They have been developed by industry practitioners and interested professional bodies to serve a wide range of design disciplines, including civil & structural design, building surveying, architectural technology and architecture. They apply to designers who work on new build, alterations, repairs, refurbishment and conservation projects.

Details of the consultation are available on http://cic.consult-on.com

The deadline for responses is 15 June 2014

In addition to your own feedback we would really appreciate any help you can give in publicising the consultation to your sector contacts and organisational networks from across the four home nations.
