The Construction Industry Council (CIC) is the representative forum for the professional bodies, research organisations and specialist business associations in the construction industry.

CIC is seeking government funding

CIC is seeking government funding to undertake a review of the National Occupational Standards for: Built Environment Design and Consultancy Practice & Construction Senior Management.

To undertake this work CIC is seeking funding via the UKCES Universal Services fund. In order to make our case to the Government we need to demonstrate industry support for our bid. If CIC’s bid is successful the project will run from March to October 2014.

National Occupational Standards can be used for a variety of purposes including the development of vocational qualifications such as NVQs and SVQs. They provide proof that an individual has both the knowledge and technical ability to carry out a job role in the work place to a recognised industry standard or benchmark.

The Standards need to be kept up to date to reflect new ways of working in relation to sustainability, energy use, low carbon and Building Information Modelling. By working with employers we are able to identify current industry benchmarks and incorporate any changing work practices into the standards.

You can pledge your support by returning the endorsement form by Monday 30th September to pbehal@cic.org.uk.
