CIC welcomes RICS National Conference on BIM

CIC welcomes the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors’ (RICS) National Conference focus on Building Information Modelling (BIM) and the importance of industry cross-sector collaboration RICS’ annual BIM National Conference, taking place on 13 February 2013 will outline the future for BIM and the need for cross-sector collaboration.

The conference aims to ‘demystify’ BIM for all professionals working within the property industry and explain how they can embrace and use BIM in line with the Government Soft Landing strategy. This will be led by the keynote address from David Philp, Head of BIM Implementation at the Cabinet Office and Chair of the recently formed CIC BIM 2050 Group.

Speakers will cover areas of interest across the supply chain including QS’, architects and Facilities Managers, and include Adrian Malone, Director at Faithful+Gould, Dale Sinclair, Director at Dyer & Chairman of RIBA Plan of Work Review Group and Paul Fletcher, Co-founder Director at Through Architecture and Deborah Rowland, Head of Facilities Management at the Government Property Unit. There will also be speakers covering the role of technology in BIM and training and education.

Delegates will also benefit from a BIM Demonstration Zone. This will provide a snapshot of the different stages of BIM adoption and implementation with displays from those at various stages of the process from across the industry.

As one of the only industry bodies to cover the entire supply chain, RICS is well placed to support and lead on this collaboration.
