Construction Industry Council Chief Awarded OBE

Posted: 28th January 2008

Graham Watts, Chief Executive of the Construction Industry Council (CIC), is to receive an OBE in the New Year Honours list for his services to Construction. He said he was “surprised and delighted” at the news and “hopes that it is seen as a tribute to the multidisciplinary work of the Council as a whole”.

Graham has been Chief Executive of CIC since 1991 and is also currently the Secretary of the Strategic Forum for Construction’s Olympic and Integration Task Forces, both of which are hosted by CIC, and a Board member of ConstructionSkills and Council member of Constructing Excellence. Additionally he is a Visiting Professor at the University of Northumbria, an Honorary Fellow of the RIBA, CIBSE, the ABE and the Faculty of Building and an Honorary Member of the RICS and CIAT. He was awarded the President’s Medal of the CIOB in 2000 and the Peter Stone Award in 1996.

Graham is also the Performance Director for the British Fencing Team and has been appointed as Fencing’s Team Manager for the 2008 Olympic Games and, in his spare time, he enjoys writing about dance.
