The Construction Industry Council (CIC) is the representative forum for the professional bodies, research organisations and specialist business associations in the construction industry.

Green Construction Panel

The essence of the CIC Green Construction Panel, chaired by George Adams, is the encouragement of the need to develop a sustainable society through energy and water, natural resource conservation addressing the urgent need to learn how to improve our existing urban environments.

The terms of reference of the Green Construction Panel include:

  • Advise the Membership Panel and Board, on issues relating to sustainability, carbon reduction and all other green construction issues
  • Link and co-ordinate the green construction activities of CIC members and other associated bodies of the construction industry, and in particular, act as an interface with the Green Construction Board
  • Identify and promote green construction policy and activities in the construction industry, to benefit society.  Encourage new thinking, inter group relationships, provide support to new initiatives that move towards sustainable built environment
  • Improve knowledge of built environment sustainability and communication
  • Develop core themes for CIC
  • Provide alternative thinking
  • Provide industry presentations on sustainability or energy efficiency in social media
  • Promote CIC in publications, industry presentations and press articles
  • Promote energy conservation
