The first Annual Conference of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers will take place 20 years after the Association changed its name to the Association of Building Engineers to better reflect the skills and expertise of its members.
The industry is now recognising the key role that Building Engineers, with their understanding of technology and their ability to contribute to the design, construction, evaluation and maintenance of the built environment, are able to play.
As the construction industry recovers and the demand for new projects increases, there is a clear need for rapid solutions in order to meet demand. The way in which buildings are designed and constructed is changing with the use of innovative materials and significant changes in construction techniques. Set against a background of the most radical changes to regulations, standards and guidance for decades, the challenges are clear.
Building Engineers specialise in a number of key areas and have a great understanding of the numerous specialisms that come together to create a building. They are experienced in bringing together the various elements required to form a cohesive project. It is this theme, of joining up numerous parts to form a whole, which is the focus of this year’s conference.
The conference explores the theme of professionals working together and includes papers from major industry speakers to demonstrate how all professionals, and Building Engineers in particular, can benefit from working together towards a common goal.
